译文
无时无刻不想早日回家，今天反而要为挚友送别。春风和暖，在南城陌上的长亭为你饯行。席间默默无言，只有频频举杯，纵情豪饮。此时，席间奏起了凄婉的管乐，似乎在催促行人上路。
风雨交加的夜晚你将在何处解鞍投宿？野水边的驿馆，抑或是空山上的驿馆。纵然我们相距千里之隔，只能把相思寄托给明月，但是我们却可以在梦中相聚，也可以勤写书信，传递彼此的情谊。
注释
琴调相思引：双调，七十三字，上片七句七仄韵，下片十句十仄韵，皆为入声韵，重韵形式同上。此调《词律》、《词谱》均未载。
范殿监：名字经历均不详。从词中可以看出，他是词人的好友，大概要到黄冈去做官，所以临行前方回作此词以赠之。
翻：因离别引起的种种复杂心情。
祖席：本是古代出行时祭祀路神的一种仪式，这里便指饯行的酒宴。
觞（shāng）：酒杯。卷白：卷白波，所谓卷白波者，盖卷白上之酒波耳，言其饮酒之快也。这句是在劝酒。
管色：指离别时奏起的音乐。
书尺：书信。

琴调相思引·送范殿监赴黄岗创作背景
贺铸在外作官，他乡为客。无时无刻不思念家乡，盼望着能够早日归去，恰逢要送别好友范殿监赴黄冈做官，此时心中必然集聚了一些羁宦之愁。正是在这种情境之下，要给陪伴自己多日的朋友送别，便作该词以赠别。

词的首句既揭示了词人现在所处的生存状态，又点出了他此时此刻具体在做的事情，即送别友人。“终日怀归”，意为每天都在思念家乡，希望踏上归途，可见词人本人也正处于羁旅行役的漂泊之中。词人本就是行役之人，又得为即将与自己踏上相同命途的友人饯行，乡愁、离愁叠加。“终日怀归翻送客”一句与王维“与君离别意，同时宦游人”涵义相近，但是却将王维诗句中的豁达潇洒变为一种沉郁的感慨。
“春风祖席南城陌”是说二人饯别的情景。“春风”点明时节，春暖花开，风和日丽的日子，本该是踏青郊游、对饮赋诗的好时候。然而，已经身处行役、饱受其苦的人，却要在城南的陌上长亭设宴，为另一个即将踏上羁旅，从此也可能饱尝孤寂痛苦的人送行。在此情此境下，二人除了相对无言，各饮杯中酒外，也难以再有多余的表示了
“便莫惜离觞频卷白”写得就是席间劝酒。主宾二人对坐共饮，却是借酒浇愁愁更愁。由此更是衬出了二人友情的笃厚以及羁旅行役的艰难。
然而，天下没有不散的筵席，“动管色，催行色”采用叠句形式，如同袅袅不尽的管弦，催促着行人的启程。无论如何不舍，最终仍要无奈地离去。回环往复的韵律，如同离别之人的悲苦哀愁，凄婉而绝决。
词的下片，抒写分别后的情思。词人设想友人行走在路上的境况：“何处投鞍风雨夕”——在风雨交加的夜晚他投宿歇脚之地还是个未知，随后自问自答：“临水驿，空山驿；临水驿，空山驿。”穿越万水千山，在简单的驿馆里度过一个个无人陪伴的夜晚，这样的苦痛孤独，词人感同身受。
“纵明月相思千里隔。梦咫尺，勤书尺；梦咫尺，勤书尺”一句，是词人心迹的剖白和对友情的铭誓，即使离别之后千里相隔，只能共望一片月色，也不会彼此牵念。“勤书尺”是作者对友人的嘱托：“在梦中，我与你近在咫尺，但梦醒后，不要忘记勤写书信，让我稍稍宽慰对你的记挂。”
该词最突出的特点就是叠句的运用，重复的叠句生动再现了作者临别之际依依不舍、反复嘱托的神态，也透露出临别时二人心中百转千回的复杂滋味，表现出作者与友人之间动人的友谊。
